Each of us wants to make our home as comfortable as possible so that it is pleasant to be in it. There are many ways to choose from, materials, decor and interior elements. For the floor, such elements are floor coverings, which are in abundance on the modern market. One of the most popular at the moment is carpet.
Method 1: Unrolled and Done
The easiest way is to simply spread the carpet to fit the size of the room. In this case, you need to buy a piece of cover a little larger than the room and lay in an empty room without baseboards on a clean floor. After spreading over the entire area, carefully trim the excess along the wall with a sharp knife. This option is suitable for small rooms where the carpet covers the area completely in one piece.
Method 2: Tape Adhesive
In large rooms, several pieces of coating will have to be connected, so that it is imperceptible to use adhesive double-sided tape. The tape is glued to the floor at the junction, and on it bring the two edges of the carpet. The tape can be used not only at the joints, but also along the walls or in several places throughout the coating area in order to fix the carpet to avoid wrinkles and swelling.
Method 3: Fully Adhesive
The method of continuous gluing allows you to securely fix the carpet throughout the floor space. For this, it is necessary to completely spread the coating and fold it in half, freeing half of the room. The adhesive is applied to the floor with a spatula and aged for about five minutes to dry. Then evenly lay your carpet and press it. In this way, a coating of several pieces is easily laid.
Method 4: Stretching
This method can only be used by professionals who have specialized equipment and are able to use it. Here the carpet is pulled on special slats - gripers - with nails driven in at an angle of 45 degrees. The grippers are installed along the walls (they are beaten onto the wooden floor, they can be glued to the concrete and tile floors or fixed with dowels) with the nails up, the tips of the nails should be directed to the wall. After that, the tool cover is pulled and put on nails. The slats are attached to the floor at a distance of 6-10 mm from the walls, and the edge of the carpet is then tucked into this gap. The space between the rails for leveling the height is filled with a substrate.
- To lay the coating, regardless of the method, it is necessary to lay it on a clean, dry floor. Otherwise, mold may form due to moisture and swelling from the debris left under the carpet.
- The substrate can be laid with any installation method, it should be fixed to the floor with glue.
- To make the joint invisible, you can overlap two pieces of carpet on top of each other, 3-4 cm of overlap is enough, and cut a double layer with a sharp knife. After that, remove the segments and stick the joint.
- If the floor is still visible at the junction, then you can collect the pile from the cut pieces, spread the glue with glue and cover it with pile, thereby masking the gap.
