Recently, due to the increase in utility tariffs, the problem of energy saving has become especially urgent. In addition to reducing the time of use of electrical appliances, there is a way to replace conventional “Ilyich bulbs” with energy-saving ones that work on a different principle, have a longer service life and consume less electricity for the same result.
Economy lamps come in various shapes with different caps, but they are all divided into two main types: fluorescent and LED.
This type of lamp, in turn, is divided into a linear type and a compact one. Linear ones are a long straight tube filled with vapors of argon and mercury, and a phosphor powder composition is deposited on the inner surface of the glass. The luminaire also has a ballast and a base. They came into use for a very long time, but were not widely used due to the complexity of the design and inconvenience of maintenance. Compact ones do not take up much space, so they can be used instead of classic incandescent lamps. Available in different forms: spiral, candle-shaped, U-shaped, in the form of a ball or pear, etc. The starter is located directly in the lamp housing, and the base for it will fit the classic from a conventional incandescent lamp.
Such lamps do not contain any harmful chemicals and they are approximately eight times more economical than the “Illich lamp”. Semiconductor devices are installed in the design, which begin to emit a glow when connected to the power supply network. This option is ideal when drawing up the original design of the rooms, thanks to minimal heating, they can be built into shelves, in suspended ceilings, in general, wherever you want without the risk of fire. There is no ultraviolet light in the light spectrum of LED lamps, so they are completely safe and widely used in public places. The manufacturer usually indicates the duration in hours, the number of which can reach several tens.
How to choose
There are three things to consider before buying a lamp.
- You should pay attention to the type of cartridge for your lamp. Cartridges for bulbs with a socle E14, E27, E40, G23, 2G7, G53, 2D, etc. differ. The first two are used everywhere in everyday life. E40 is usually used in industry, and the rest are decorative.
- The size and shape of the lamp itself is very important, it just may not fit in the lamp housing and will have to return to the store.
- Think in advance which light will be more pleasant for you. There are lamps of warm white, cold white and daylight.
