What is the "stomach" of the wall and how to get rid of it during repair
Under the "belly" of the wall is usually understood as a kind of curvature of the surface in the form of a bulge. It was for the visual resemblance to the stomach, she received this name.
In order to get rid of it, you need to understand the nature of the origin, the assessment of the consequences and work processes.
The nature of the origin of the “abdomen”
There are two main causes of such bumps:
- initially curved wall;
- curvature during repair work.
It just so happened that during the construction of multi-storey buildings, the main task is to drive the box in the shortest possible time, and a minimum of time is allocated for interior decoration - therefore, there is no need to talk about perfectly even walls.
If the apartments have masonry, no one really "bothers" to level the surface. The mortars of the solution either do not go astray at all, or they go astray.
Therefore, there are differences in level and in the case of a bulge, such a roughness is the original and is called the “stomach”
The bulge that appears after the repair work is a consequence of the failure to perform the technology of one or another type of work.
It would seem that the scheme and sequence of all repair actions is quite simple:
- primer wall.
- rough alignment.
- primer wall.
- starting plaster.
- primer wall.
- finishing plaster
- primer wall.
- final cladding.
However, here the negligent brigades are trying to save money and not fulfill 3, 5 and even 7 points. This leads to a violation of the adhesion of materials, which entails the delamination of the layers and the formation of the "abdomen" of the wall.
Ways to get rid
Depending on the nature of the origin, there are several ways to get rid of bumps.
In the case of the initial curvature of the surface, it is necessary to make a visual inspection and measure the differences.
If the bulge is insignificant (up to 2-3 cm), then plastering all the surface of the wall will be a relief from it.
And if the "belly" sticks out at 5 or more centimeters, then in this case it is necessary to shoot it down, armed with a hammer with a chisel, or a perforator.
After knocking down, the wall leveling process is standard.
In the second case, it will be much more difficult to cope with the task, since the “stomach” grows on the already lined wall, and the process of disposal depends on the type of lining.
The bulge appears due to the separation of layers from the wall, and they do not fall away due to wallpaper, panels, tiles, etc.
What to do? The first step is to carefully remove the cladding in a problem place. Then remove the layers that have separated.
After that, carry out work on leveling the walls with strict adherence to technology. And this process ends with the return of the cladding to the wall.
The “belly” of the wall is a problem, but with a skillful and competent approach they get rid of it. The main thing is to do the work correctly and efficiently, without trying to save on materials and time - and the result will please for many years.
