It is not always possible to calculate the heating system in the house correctly in advance, some nuances appear after the start of the heating season. Because of which, the calculations may not be justified and you will freeze that you absolutely will not like it. There are several options to correct this annoying situation.
As you know from school, objects of a dark color heat up more and they have more heat transfer than light tones. And the standard color of the radiators is white. You can repaint your radiators, but previously it is advisable to remove the old paint and use a paint with low thermal insulation, so that nothing would prevent the transfer of heat.
Decorative metal overhead boxes are often found on sale, which are mounted on a heating radiator and partially or completely cover it, thereby increasing the heat transfer area.
Distance from the wall
A considerable part of the heat is absorbed by the wall on which the heating structure hangs so that the heat loss is not so critical, there should be a distance of at least 20 cm between the radiator and the wall. Then the air flows passing behind the battery will also heat up.
Heating batteries are always mounted near the walls and on the walls, so the back of the structure, in fact, heats the wall. To avoid this, you can buy or make your own screen that reflects heat. Take metallized polypropylene or foil larger than a radiator of 20 centimeters on each side and fasten it to the wall on the battery. So the heat will be reflected inside the room.
When the heating is turned on, the air near the battery is first heated and slowly spreads throughout the room. To speed up the process, you need to establish air circulation. To do this, put a fan next to the radiator that will blow warm air and let cool air in. It is better to install coolers from the computer from below or behind the battery.
The radiator may not warm up at full strength if an air congestion has formed inside, while the work will be accompanied by a gurgle. The Maevsky crane will help get rid of it in advance installed on the upper end of the radiator. You should open it a little and wait until the air comes out. Be sure to substitute the bucket and direct the tap nozzle into it.
Over time, rust, scale and other contaminants accumulate inside the radiator. To get rid of them, remove and thoroughly rinse the radiator under pressure, preferably using chemical cleaning agents. It will not be difficult to remove the battery if you have prudently installed taps on the supply and return pipes.
The most elementary way to increase the heat transfer of a radiator is to supplement it with several sections. Modern batteries are quite easy to disassemble, with a special key, this can be done at home.
