How to quickly clean a washing machine? Expert Advice
The automatic washing machine pleases the housewives with impeccable work, as well as the opportunity to save time and effort. But what if you began to notice that after washing the clothes stopped shining with cleanliness, and an unpleasant odor emanated from the machine itself, or did it become worse to heat the water? The reason may be that it is time to clean the equipment from the inside. To do this, it is not necessary to call the wizard and use expensive special tools. Everything can be done independently - quickly and simply, and we will help you with this.
Drum and heater
Due to the increased water hardness, scale forms on the heating element and the drum over time. Minerals form a hard crust, which negatively affects the operation of the unit. You can dissolve them with acids - ordinary acetic or citric acid, which is in every home. The procedure is as follows:
- Take 2 cups of 9% vinegar and pour it into the drum.
- Mix a quarter cup of water and baking soda, place the pulp in the receiver compartment.
- Start the machine in idle mode, setting the temperature and time to maximum.
Vinegar can be replaced with powdered citric acid. It must be poured into the detergent compartment and turned on the machine, setting the maximum mode. Depending on the capacity of the tank and the degree of contamination, you will need from 1 to 6 packs of the product at a time.
Rubber seal in the drum
Moisture accumulates in the cuff and subsequently a musty odor appears, and mold may also form. To clean the seal, pull it towards you and straighten the folds. Dip a sponge or cloth moistened with water in dip powder or baking soda and wipe the surface around the circumference. Remember to clean the adjacent metal ring. If the dirt does not give in, use a toothbrush.
Did you notice the mold? Wash the seal especially well and thoroughly. You can use chlorine-based products, just do not get carried away - they can damage the rubber. The cuff should not be stretched too much, otherwise it will tear. Finally, rinse the surface with clean water and wipe dry.
Receiver tray
First you need to extract it from technology. As a rule, for this you just need to pull it towards yourself. If you see that there is a buildup of laundry detergent in it, wash it with a brush or sponge under running water and wipe it dry. Be careful not to damage the rubber pipe. If limescale deposits and possibly rust do not lag behind easily and quickly, sprinkle them with detergent and leave for a couple of hours. After handling the tray, put it back into the machine.
Drain filter
It is located at the bottom of the unit and is covered by a removable panel. To get to it, you need to pry the door with any sharp object. Place a rag under this machine that absorbs moisture well. Unscrew the lid and drain the water. Then take out all the trash accumulated inside. Wipe the filter, tighten the cover and reinstall the panel.
Water inlet filter
Before starting any action, be sure to turn off the water! Turn the machine with the back wall towards you. Unscrew the nut of the inlet hose. Inside you will see a grid. It must be removed with pliers and brushed with a toothbrush. Then put the filter in place, screw the hose.
After these manipulations, it remains only to wipe the outside of your washing machine from dust and drips and it will work like new!
